Bryan Schimmel is available to companies, corporate groups, social organisations and individuals as an inspirational speaker. Aside from a story of success as a musician, his story is one of facing, overcoming and living with challenges, and beating the odds.
Schimmel has succeeded as a musician despite being a stutterer his entire life, as well as a victim of bullying, homophobia and a very difficult relationship with his late father. He is a 15 years recovered crystal meth addict and he has been HIV+ for 19 years.
He lived in the US for seven years from 1995 – 2002. When his life was at its most dire and desperate, he made a choice to return to South Africa to reclaim his life, reboot his career and became one of the most successful musicians in South Africa.
He made his public speaking debut as a professional speaker in 2016 at the annual Limmud Conference (Limmud is the Hebrew word for learning) – a three day gathering of international and local speakers from all worlds and walks of life. He delivered an inspiring speech for a full hour to a packed room earning a standing ovation.
On World Aids Day 2016, he delivered a speech to a group of miners at a Glencore Mine in Limpopo province on HIV awareness and the issues surrounding testing and disclosure.
In June 2017 he gave a presentation to the Women Zionist Organization entitled: CHALLENGE. CHOICE. CHANGE.
He will be presenting to a large corporation on September 15, 2017.
Bryan’s personal mantra - Live to Inspire – was born out of his desire to share his real life stories and to inspire others who might be encountering difficulties in life and who need a source of strength of encouragement to draw from.
